US Model 1842 Springfield 69 Caliber Smooth bore musket dated 1853. All metal parts have a brown patina with pitting near the breach. Full length walnut stock shows much use with dents and chips/wood loss between the mid band and top band (see photos). Barrel is 42 inches with the correct but shortened ram rod (see photos). Lock functions and is marked Springfield 1853 with the American eagle over US. Butt plate marked US. Both sling swivels are present. A good example of a hard used civil war musket. Musket appears complete and correct (correct but shortened ramrod). Shipping will be by priority mail and actual cost approximately $50.00.
