Description:
US Springfield Model 1906 bayonet training rifle with flexible bayonet with original leather covering. These were made by Springfield armory during WW1 from surplus 1873 Springfield 45-70 rifles still in armory storage. Approximately 12,000 were made during WW1. This one is correct and complete with the leather covered bayonet in very good to fine condition. The breach block is marked 1873, the lock is marked US Springfield and the cartouche is the rare ESA 1877 in a oval. The leather covered bayonet is marked R.I.A. 1914 F.S.. A hard to find variation for the military collector which can be sent direct.
