Approximately 69 caliber smooth bore percussion musket by Lane and Reed of Boston circa 1840. The lock is marked Lane & Reed over Boston. Lane & Reed is difficult to see due to pitting and functions as it should. The Barrel is 36.5 inches and may have been shortened at one time and has turned dark brown in color. The full length stock is in very good condition and has nice color. The other furniture is brass with patina. Lane & Reed made military style, Militia muskets and hunting arms from 1826 to 1849 in Boston, Mass. A interesting piece of history at a reasonable price.
