Description:
SOLD...Excellent antique Smith & Wesson .32 caliber 1st model Safety Hammerless or “Lemon Squeezer”.. The S/N is 52431 and all matching of course. This is about half way through production with the S/N range 1 through 91417 and made from 1888 to 1902 so it is well within the antique S/N range.. The little gun is in NRA grade excellent and very near excellent Plus.. It retains well over 90% original but slightly clouding nickel and 100% blue and case color finish.. The barrel has 98% with some clouding to the nickel on the right side.. The clouding comes from grabbing the barrel with your fingers for opening. The frame has near 100% including the front and rear grip straps with some minor clouding from handling.. The cylinder has about 80% with some flaking.. Where the nickel has flaked on the cylinder, the metal is a light brown patina and never polished on or messed with.. The take down lever/ spring on the top of the barrel has 100% bright blue finish {see photo}.. The trigger guard has 100% bright blue finish and the trigger has 100% bright, vivid case colors.{see close up photos}.. The trigger still has good traces of case color on the front so this gun has been fired very little.. The markings are excellent. The grips are excellent with no cracks or chips and retain all of the very fine checkering and a perfect snap on factory fit. The action is excellent and this gun is crisp and tight as a new gun.. It indexes perfectly and locks up bank vault tight. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and at the hinge.. The bore is near excellent and mostly bright with strong like new rifling with some minor specks of roughness. The cylinder chambers are excellent and bright with no roughness at all.. The screw heads are clean and sharp and not tool marked up from tinkering.. All in all, this little Smith is in outstanding condition for a gun that is about 125 years old … Probably has been carried in a pocket far more than it has been shot, which is probably good for the original owner and the gun itself !!!! Very popular pocket guns in the day for a snag free draw.. This design was so popular it was copied by all the cheaper made guns of the day.. for good reason, it worked.. This design was so good is still being made by Smith & Wesson today in the much harder hitting .38 and 357 magnum calibers. Call for more photos or any questions. 765-728-8049.. $15 insured priority mail shipping. Don't miss this little jewel...
