Description:
Magnificent one-of-a-kind Cased Set of 4 Custom Class "D" Master Engraved Colt 3rd Generation Single Action Army Revolvers, Titled: "Grand Slam Series".

This set of highly embellished Colt Revolvers was featured in American Rifleman Magazine and includes a brass plaque that features a facsimile of the original article.  There is a photo of the plaque and you can read the entire article below.

Commissioned to commemorate the completion of a North American Sheep "Grand Slam" by Sam Pancotto, these revolvers are listed in four separate but numerical Colt custom shop orders.  Each revolver was embellished with beautiful class "D" factory scroll engraving and gold inlay by a separate Colt Master Engraver; which includes Howard Dove, Bob Burt, Leonard Francolini, and Steve Kamyk.  All are chambered in .45 LC caliber, with the same configuration of a 7-1/2" barrel, blued finish, factory ivory grips; gold plated hammer, trigger, base pin, ejector rod head, backstrap, trigger guard, and stock screw.  Each revolver was assigned a unique serial number that is marked in gold on the frame; Stone, Desert, Bighorn, and Dall.

1.) "Desert" was engraved by Leonard Francolini and features Class "D" scroll engraving which covers nearly the entire barrel, receiver, and cylinder.  Gold-plated trigger guard, backstrap, and hammer also with extensive scroll engraving.  Left side of the barrel is marked in gold "Desert Sheep" with gold banding at the muzzle end of the barrel, cylinder and borders of the frame; recoil shield with an inlaid gold Desert Sheep head.

2.) "Dall" was engraved by Steve Kamyk and features Class "D" scroll engraving which covers nearly the entire barrel, receiver, and cylinder.  Gold-plated trigger guard, backstrap, and hammer also with extensive scroll engraving.  Left side of the barrel is marked in gold "Dall Sheep" with gold banding at the muzzle end of the barrel, cylinder and borders of the frame; recoil shield with an inlaid gold Dall Sheep head.

3.) "Bighorn" was engraved by Howard Dove and features Class "D" scroll engraving which covers nearly the entire barrel, receiver, and cylinder.  Gold-plated trigger guard, backstrap, and hammer also with extensive scroll engraving.  Left side of the barrel is marked in gold "Bighorn Sheep" with gold banding at the muzzle end of the barrel, cylinder and borders of the frame; recoil shield with an inlaid gold Bighorn Sheep head.

4.) "Stone" was engraved by Bob Burt and features Class "D" scroll engraving which covers nearly the entire barrel, receiver, and cylinder.  Gold-plated trigger guard, backstrap, and hammer also with extensive scroll engraving.  Left side of the barrel is marked in gold "Stone Sheep" with gold banding at the muzzle end of the barrel, cylinder and borders of the frame; recoil shield with an inlaid gold Stone Sheep head.

Each revolver comes with a factory letter from Colt that verifies the configuration, engraving, gold embellishments, grips; shipped Jan. 23rd, 1980 to Interstate Distributing Company, Little Rock, Arkansas.  The letters also mention that they are part of a 4-gun "Grand Slam Series" set.  Included for each revolver is the original box with "Colt Custom Gun Shop" label, and padded soft gun case.  The gun cases have a decorative piece of leather that is stamped with sheep motif and either Stone, Dall, Desert, and Bighorn.

All four revolver are displayed in a custom, high quality walnut case which features a gloss-finish, full-lenth piano hinge, fitted maroon colored velvet interior.  The case measures 20x22x3-1/2.  The case is finished with a 4x6 gold-plated plaque on the interior and on the lid, both are engraved "Colt Grand Slam", "One of a Kind", and four different sheep; one of each species.

All four are in beautiful as new condition and are possibly some of the finest factory-engraved 3rd generation Colt revolvers that you will find.  The lid on the case is a little warped from age and the exterior shows some light storage type wear.

From the estate of Sidney A Doan Jr., founder of Sierra Sid's Truck Stop and Casino in Sparks, NV.  This outstanding set was previously on display at the casino.

Truly a one-of-a-kind set that would make an outstanding display piece and be an important addition to a Colt single action collection.
