Description:
SOLD PENDING FUNDS 4/7/21Very early Royal hammerless ejector gun that has been restored, no 2 of a pair, one of the first Hollands with steel NP barrels, serial no 16722 made circa 1896, conventional wisdom has the Royals starting at 22000 in 1899. In very high condition overall and bank-vault tight. The gun has steel nitro proof 1 1/8 oz barrels with mirror bores measuring 28" x 2 1/2" bored 12 (choked R 739/733 L 739/733 sk sk, min wall 031 and 032) and an unusual sunken rib. High grade wood, LOP 14.5 through a leather covered pad, drops 1 3/4" and 2 1/4", cast off 1/8" or so ... very modern dimensions. Beautifully engraved in the H&H Royal style with nicely shaded big bold acanthus scroll. In a brass-cornered oak and leather case with period H&H label bearing the same initials as the gold oval ("LAL").  Probably made specifically for driven grouse but obviously not used very much at all since restoration. 6lb. Price reflects 3% discount for cash. Interesting side note: H&H notes the no 1 gun was stolen in the 60s and has not been seen since.
