1881 BLACK POWDER FRAME .44-40 WCF Colt 6-Shooter!
Here we present a Colt Frontier Six-Shooter Model 1873 Revolver in .44-40 WCF, manufactured in 1881 in Hartford, Connecticut. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration (barrel length and grips not listed) as well as shipment to Wexell & on 3 February 1881. Wexell & DeGress was a firm with locations in both New York and Mexico City. The latter location did a rather brisk business as one of the few arms dealers in the area, even supplying Porfirio Díaz during his rebellion.
The overall condition is very good. The action is strong. The bore is in good condition. All the numbers match. Grips are worn with a chip in the right toe. Lanyard aperture in the bottom of the grip frame. Here is a great example of a Colt Six Shooter that was shipped to Wexell & DeGress!
