Description:
EARLY POST-WAR PRODUCTION MODEL 74 .22LR SEMI-AUTO RIFLE, #207XXX, MADE 1948. This model was introduced at the tail end of the Great Depression in 1939. Few were made during the World War II years, but production picked up after the war's end. This almost 73 year old example is in fine condition and displays the wonderful qualities built into every Winchester rifle at this time. The rich walnut is excellent and shows only the very lightest of handling. The barrel and receiver blue is nearly all intact and shows only a few spots of age and freckling. Even the trigger guard and checkered steel butt plate retain about all the blue. It has the original small buckhorn rear sight and blade/bead front sight. Bore is minty bright. These were popular with returning GIs who trained with and used their semi-auto M1 rifles and carbines in the War.
