Description:
Incredible and extremely scarce PRE WAR Winchester Model 70 in 250-3000 caliber (250 Savage). S/N 16*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1938. Superb 97% condition with all original finishes and only light handling marks.
This early rifle features the highly desirable polished / carbonum blued receiver and rust blued barrel. There are several very unique internal parts to genuine 250 Savages that are impossible to replicate precisely. I have inspected and confirmed all of these parts to be factory original including the #5 ejector, #7 mag box, specially positioned extractor collar with its "s" stamp on the back, etc. The barrel is also 100% guaranteed to be original issue. This barrel is 24" with an excellent bore and all of the rifle's mechanical functions are smooth and proper as well. There is a factory inletted and installed Lyman 48 WJS receiver sight (all matching components) with the corresponding and correct Lyman 12S rear sight dovetail plug. There has never been a standard 22g rear sight installed on this rifle as evidenced by the lack of any tell tale elevator track on top of the barrel. A VERY special rifle indeed!
