Description:
Browning Model 42, Grade 1, Limited Edition, .410 bore pump shotgun with a 26-inch full-choke barrel with a ventilated rib and 3-inch chamber.  The length of pull is 14 inches.  The drop at the comb is about 1¾ inches.  The drop at the heel is 2¾ inches.  Year of manufacture is 1991.  Other accessories include the original cardboard box with styrofoam inserts and the original Owner’s Manual.

The barrel is labeled on the left side with “BROWNING MODEL 42 BORE – 2½” AND 3” SHELLS  FULL”.  The barrel is labeled on the right side with “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q.” (first line) and “MADE IN JAPAN” (second line).

The condition of the gun is 99 percent.  I hesitate to call anything 100 percent that is not New-In-The-Box.  The owner says it has about a hundred rounds fired through it..

The finish on metal and walnut wood is all original.  The barrel is 100 percent, with no marks or other blemishes of any type.  There are a few marks on the magazine tube due to pumping action.  The receiver and trigger guard are 99+ percent.  There are two very light vertical line marks on the right side of the receiver, about an inch forward of the stock, one about ¼ inch and the other about ½ inch.  The loines are dark in the photo.  The forearm is excellent condition.  The left and right side are unblemished.  However, the bottom of the forearm has a few scuffs and very small dents, probably due to a ring (jewelry) and/or propping the gun.  There are no marks to the forearm checkering; it is deep and crisp.  The checkering on the pistol grip is also deep and crisp, but the right side show a small shallow compression in one area about a half inch long and a quarter inch wide.  The checkering on the left side of the grip is unmarred.  The stock is in excellent condition.  The right side has some dents where the stock meets the receiver, and there is a small line mark on the right side, about an inch forward of the butt plate.  The left side has a couple very tiny dents.  The top of the stock is unblemished  The belly of the stock has a 1/8-inch mark/scratch about 2½ inches forward of the toe.  I think this small mark penetrate the finish.  I do not think any of the other marks on the stock and forearm penetrate the finish.  The butt plate is like new and is labeled “BROWNING”.

The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details.  Contact me for additional photos or even higher resolution versions the posted pictures.

The buyer pays USPS Priority mail ($40) and insurance ($17.95), if insurance is desired.  Insurance is calculated from the USPS - $9.55 for the first $600 of insurance, plus $1.40 for each additional $100 of insurance (rounded up) above the first $600 dollars.  If insurance is not desired, deduct $17.95.

The fastest way to get this gun is to pay with USPS (U.S. Postal Service) money orders, as they are like cash, and I don’t have to wait for it to clear.  However, I will accept a personal check or another type money order, but I will hold the gun until it clears my bank.  USPS money orders are limited to $1,000 each; so two money orders will be required for this purchase.  Check or money orders must be made out to Jerry Pownall.
