Springfield Krag saddle ring carbine. The last original one made by Springfield. Research shows that there were only 5002 original Krag carbines made by Springfield before Bannerman assembly. Krag serial number look up tells that this serial number 145265 was made in 1898 and was Krag Products Summary number 5002.
Good wood has one crack under saddle ring slide. Stock smells and looks like it has been oiled. Excellent bore with good deep grooves and no pitting nor rust within. 22 inch Barrel still has decent but thinning blue. Receiver, bolt and cartridge box have brownish patena.
