Description:
Serial #13998, .22 RF, 3" octagon barrel with a bright bore that has a subtle ring about halfway down. This is a handsome little solid frame revolver that has matching assembly numbers on the frame, cylinder, and grips (“48") with the metal retaining 50-60% of the original silver finish that has worn to dull ochre brass on the frame. Traces of original blue remain on the barrel and cylinder, while the ejector and loading gate have a mottled gray patina. The barrel is marked: “Made For Smith & Wesson By Lowell Arms Co. Lowell Mass." along the barrel rib, “PAT. APRIL 2 / 1867" on the right side of the frame, and extensive British proofs throughout. The rosewood grips are in very good shape with flaked original varnish, and a chip missing from the toe of the right panel. The lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly. The revolver is housed in a burled walnut, British case with blank metal escutcheon and riband inlays on the lid, and a restored, blue baize interior. A cleaning rod, pewter oil bottle, and key are included. This is a fine little S&W No. 1 analog overall, in a desirable British casing. Antique
