Description:
This is a spectacular all-original, unfired, and mint condition Sako Golden Anniversary L61R rifle made in 1972 for the firm's 50th Anniversary or "Golden Anniversary". There were 1000 of these rifles made in total, all chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum with a special "c" prefix serial number. These rifles were top-of-the-line in every aspect, with each rifle being hand-built by a master gunsmith. These rifles feature a spectacular high polish gloss-blue finish on all of the metal parts, with gold-filled oak leaf engraving on the receiver, an engraved and gold-filled floorplate with the Sako logo and oak leaves, and a beautiful hand-cut checkered and carved deluxe Walnut stock with a gloss finish, factory installed sling swivels, a Sako-branded recoil pad, a Rosewood forearm tip, and a Rosewood and brass pistol grip cap. These rifles were made to show off what Sako was capable of building, and the fit and finish on them is second to none. As you can see from the pictures, this particular example is like-new and could pass for having shipped from the factory yesterday rather than 47 years ago. The beautiful high-polish blue finish looks brand new, with no finish wear, handling marks, or dings/scratches. It has never had any optics on it and has perfect receiver grooves. The gold-filled engraving is also like-new and flawless. The bore in the 24" inch barrel is stone mint and shows perfect rifling and no visible imperfections. The beautiful original stock is like-new like the rest of the gun, with perfect, crisp checkering and oak leaf carving, and with all of the original stock hardware intact and in perfect condition. The original factory paper washers around the sling swivels are even still in place (to protect the wood while being shipped). The gloss finish on the stock is bright and crystal clear with no cracking or discoloration. All of the controls on this rifle are in perfect working order, and the action is smooth, slick, and precise. This rifle really has to be handled in person to appreciate the craftsmanship. If you have been looking for a showpiece-type rifle for your collection this Sako Golden Anniversary L61R rifle would be an excellent choice. This example would be impossible to upgrade from.
