My M1 Carbine is #2238 of the 247,160 M1 Carbines that Standard Products manufactured between April 1943 and May 1944. My rifle has all of the correct parts for this serial number of Standard Products M1 Carbine based on part manufacturer, part type, USGI part I.D. stamping, dimension, pictures, and date. All information was verified using the book "Comprehensive Guide - M1 Carbine" by Roger Larson. The book has 829 pages and over 4,000 color photographs used to verify and validate correctness of the M1 Carbine.
Based upon the over all condition of my rifle it is not likely if it participated in much battle action; if any. The stock is the early version high wood oval cut oiler well type with correct stampings in the sling well and hand guard, and correct Standard Products cartouche stamp on the right rear of the butt stock. The barrel is bright with very pronounced riflings and lands, proof stamped P, and is stamped 10 43 UNDERWOOD with the Flaming Bomb behind the front sight which is all correct. Check out the pictures ! The moving and contact parts show very little wear.
This is a collector grade rifle, but could be used as a shooter for many years to come. I not only see that the parts are correct and that the rifle is cosmetically attractive, but I make sure it is fully functional as well. I will post the Guns International allowed pictures that I feel are important, but if you would like to see more I have over 150 pictures in my file that I will gladly email to you. I can also send you a complete data sheet breakdown of all of the parts that are I.D.'d by stamping, and measurements of those that aren't stamped.
This rifle is not cheap, but you are buying a complete original USGI M1 Carbine as it was specified by the U.S. Ordnance Department at time of production. The only reproduction parts are the sling, magazine pouch, carry case, and field manual which are of original quality. The fabric and paper did not hold up as well as the metal and wood.
