The 23¾" round approximately .58 caliber barrel has a fair rusty bore. The barrel and action have a dark brown patina with areas of light roughness around the bolster. The barrel has an indistinct proof mark. The lock is marked “P.J. Malherbe & Co/ A Liege". The brass furniture, with various inspection stamps, is very good. The captured brass tipped ramrod is intact. The 11¼" sling bar extends from the action area to the front band. The rear block sight is missing the folding leaf. The action functions correctly but the cone is battered. The stock is good with fill to the rear of the lock. This interesting cavalry carbine would be a good fit for any European percussion carbine collection. SOLD Antique: Yes |
