Bore is near excellent. Strong rifling and bright bore. Action works perfectly and smoothly. This is the standard model 1881 with serial number in the 21XX range. Barrel and magazine tube have good to very good blue. The receiver has approximately 45-50% blue, the rest is smooth even patina. Stocks are about very good with no chips or cracks. Forend wood is darker color than butt stock. This is usually due to having oil applied when cleaning, also these big Marlins were carried by the forend and normal handling can cause wood to have a darker tone. Overall, this is a very good model 1881 with near excellent bore and is excellent mechanically, in popular .45-70 caliber. SOLD Antique: Yes |
