Description:
The Springfield's barrel date is 5-39. The serial number of this rifle is 1343440 which makes the reciever produced in 1930. It has the standard 24 inch Springfield barrel chambered for the 30 Government 1906 [30-06] Cartridge. The barrel muzzle has the 'star gauged' stamp on the bottom part of the muzzle crown. The bore is very fine with bright sharp lands. The rear sight also has the correct ladder sight without the volley fire notch on top. The front sight is the standard sight without the sight hood. All of the gun's fittings are correctly milled and not stamped. These fittings have the correct finish for the time period. The stock is the correct style unmarked stock. The sling is a correct military sling. The sling is in good condition. The butt plate has a World War 2 issue plastic oiler and cleaning compartment. The cleaning compartment is complete with pull through kit and brush. The end cap is badly worn. The reciever has that black style parkerized finish as well as the rest of the fittings. The stock is in very fine condition with no issues. This rifle was Arsenal rebarreled and rebuilt in 1939 and fitted with a star gauged barrel. This was a common practice at the Arsenal to keep these rifles in top condition. The star gauged barrel is a nice plus for this rifle! This rifle looks great and is a nice shooter!
