This is a customized rifle that weighs in at 8 lbs. 5 oz., and features a fully glass-bedded action, olive green DuraCoat action and barrel, Cerakote-finished bolt, machined steel trigger guard by Neil Jones, free-floating barrel, Leuopold M8 scope (2.5x), and Carlos Widmann three-point sling mount. The metal components are in excellent overall condition with very little wear or evidence of use, save for a handful of negligible surface scratches and small blemishes here and there. A very small and unobtrusive import mark is present on the underside of the barrel just ahead of the forend. The wooden stock has a single plastic-filled repair on the right side of the buttstock with the exposed top of a metal reinforcing billet still visible. The push-button QD sling swivels are frozen in place. Included with the rifle is its leather target sling with Col. Cooper's autograph in black ink on the inside surface. Also included is the original Remington instruction sheet. The rifle was built for an early attendee of Jeff Cooper's American Pistol Institute in Arizona (now Gunsite Academy), and incorporates some of Cooper's ideas for a handy bolt action field rifle – ideas that were eventually refined into his famous “Scout Rifle" concept. This gun was imported years ago by Joe Salter who purchased the gun in Canada from the original owner.
