Description:
Serial #39346, 12 GA (2 3/4"), 29 1/2" full choked barrel with a bright bore that is near perfect with a small blemish about ten inches down perhaps from an expertly raised dent. This is a WWII, 1942 produced, US Military Ithaca model 37 that has correct ordnance flaming bomb and “R L B" inspector mark on the receiver. Used for many different wartime purposes these military shotguns still had the Ithaca roll stamping of the game scenes and were a sought after gun in the immediate post war years as the gun companies struggled to keep up with demand. The gun is in very good plus condition with 85-90% of the original blued finish remaining on the weakly engraved receiver that has thinned to pewter gray on the highpoints and nearest the loading / ejector with scattered areas of light freckling and pitting on the right face with use marks overall. The barrel sports a brass front bead and has thinned to a mottled pewter gray with several small patches of freckles and light pitting with scattered use marks overall. The walnut forearm and butt stock are solid, in very good condition with numerous dings and scratches consistent with a wartime shotgun with the original Ithaca butt plate and grip cap sporting the original slotted screws. Overall a great WWII Military shotgun that you can take out for bird season! FFL or C&R
