Description:
This is a very rare 970 Puma-Planter folding knife manufactured for only a short time in 1970. The knife is in excellent, as-new condition with the original hang tag and paper stick-on label on the wood scale. Previously known as the 'Plainsman', this model of lockback folder was produced as the 'Planter' for only a short time in 1970, becoming the 'Game Warden' later that same year. 8 1/2' overall, 5' folded, 3 7/8' dingle-edged clipped point blade with a hollow saber grind. The blade is marked “970 Puma-Planter New Stainless Super Keen Cutting Steel" on the blade and “Puma Germany" on the flat and is bright without any sign of use and the lock button is marked “22072". The brass bolsters have a pleasing patina with subtle hints of verdigris that would easily polish. The hardwood scales are excellent with the original stick-on label present. A hard to find knife in any condition this one is an exceptionally nice example.
