This customized Savage 110L 6.5-300 Wby. Mag. was originally a .264 Win. Mag. built by the late Bob Gilkey, a part-time gunsmith from Sacramento. It features what many of us refer to as a "California-style" stock with an exaggerated cheekpiece and rollover comb. The inlay at the base of the pistol grip carries the initials for a previous owner.The barrel is stamped "Gilkey" and carries his standard "elk's head" marking. However, the original cartridge stamp has been crudely obliterated (see photo 3 or 4). The 6.5-300 Wby. Mag. has been a wildcat cartridge for many years. With the steadily increasing popularity of 6.5mm (.264") chamberings, it was standardized by Weatherby and introduced in 2016 as the world's fastest 6.5mm commercial cartridge. 6.5-300 Weatherby Magnum

Metal Condition: "Shows good finish, overall, but the manner in which the prior cartridge designation was ""crossed off"" is rather crude.
