Description:
This Mauser Model 98 Sporter bolt action rifle comes in a 9x57mm cal. It was made in the classic Mauser design with quality engineering workmanship and materials. Included with this rifle are reloading dies and brass casings in .30-06, .270 and 7.92mm. There is a folder with a much information on reloading to 9x57mm along with charts and shooting data with targets from trials. The 9x57 is also known as the 9mm and the 9mm Mannlichter. It is a very old cartridge quite similar to the present day "wildcat" .35 Whelen except that it is somewhat shorter than the Whelan and somewhat longer than the .35 Remington. Cases are easily made in one operation from .30-06 by using a suitable forming die. It is actually a very hard to beat cartridge for brush shooting, being quite similar or a little better than the currently manufactured .358 Winchester. 9x57
