Between the three divisions they made 2,798,601 of the M1 version of the carbine for the outrageous price of right at $38.00 each. General Motors divisions also made other variations of the carbine; the M2 Full Auto, T3, and M1A1 Paratrooper, plus numerous experimental versions that didn' become regular production rifles. For as rapidly as alll manufacturers produced the M1 Carbine they were made remarkably precise and durable. The dwindling number of surviving M1 Carbines is not due to wear but likely collectors buying them. The carbine I am selling here is serial #3359667 was manufactured mid-year 1943. This rifle qualifies as a curio and relic rifle but it is fully functional and would be a very dependable rifle to shoot or just take to the range and be the envy of your friends. The barrel is a SAGINAW SG DIV GENERAL MOTORS stamped barrel with very evident riflings and lands (see picture). The muzzle crown, the color and finish, and the scarce number of production station stampings and no armorer marks lead me to believe it to be an original. The remainder of the metal parts retain their original color and only the moving parts show minimal wear on the contact points. The stock is in excellent condition and retains the correct stock contractor TRIMBLE TN stamping in the sling well and the RSG stamping on the hand guard. Every part and identifying feature of this carbine are USGI original as specified by the U.S. Ordnance Department. I totally disassembled this rifle and carefully inspected each part and verified their USGI authenticity by referencing Roger Larson's book "Comprehensive Guide - M1 Carbine". With 829 pages and over 4,000 high quality color photos detailing parts descriptions by manufacturer, I.D. stampings, various types of the same part, and production date ranges this book is the most reliable and consistant way for me to assure what I am selling is a correct and collectable M1 Carbine. The fact that fabric and paper products could not withstand 77 years of use or storage I have included a nearly original quality reproduction sling, dual magazine pouch, zippered canvass carry case, and field manual. I have attached the maximum 15 photos of this M1 Carbine in the ad posting but I have over 150 stored in my computer that I will gladly email to you if you are further interested. FREE SHIPPING AND INSURANCE sent to a currently valid FFL of your choice within the contiguous 48 states. Sales transaction must comply with all state and federal firearms sales and shipping regulations. Although fully functional this rifle is sold as is and carries no expressed or implied warranties.
