Description:
Serial #P1665, .38 S&W, 5" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, and barrel, with the metal retaining about 98-99% of a wartime matte blue finish with some slight silvering along the high edges and projections. The gun has additional, post-war Birmingham proofs, and has Royal Canadian Air Force issue markings on the rear of the gripframe knuckle: “RCAF / 4 SQ / 55" (RCAF, No. 4 Squadron, Gun #55). The grooved wooden grips are in fine shape with some minor handling marks on both panels, and the lanyard swivel is missing. The lock-up is still tight and the mechanism functions flawlessly. No. 4 Squadron was a Bomber Reconnaissance squadron based at Tofino, BC during WW2. The squadron flew Blackburn Shark, Supermarine Stranraer, and Consolidated Canso/Catalina aircraft on anti-submarine patrols along the Canadian Pacific coast. This is an excellent, unit marked RCAF Enfield No. 2 revolver overall. FFL or C&R
