Description:
Serial #2408, .450 Boxer, 5 1/2" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some freckling and mild pinprick pitting at the muzzle. This is a second-year-of-production revolver that has traces of the original blue finish remaining, mostly on protected areas, with the balance of the metal having turned to a plum-brown and gray patina. Numerous surface scratches and small peen marks are also present throughout, and the hammer and trigger likewise have faint traces of original bright fire blue remaining. The barrel has a Colt Pall Mall London address, and a large “D^D" WW2 era Australian property marking is present on the right side of the frame. The walnut grips have later added checkering and are in fair-good shape with light surface wear, flattening of the points along both panels, and a repaired, longitudinal crack on the right side. The mechanism is fully functional both in single and double action, and the lock-up is still tight. This is a handsome, antique London Colt 1878, that was appropriated for Australian military service in WW2, and is in good-very good condition. Antique
