Description:
Gustave Young, Factory engraved Colt Pocket Model made in 1854. Serial number 97284 matches on the barrel, frame, cylinder, triggerguard and backstrap with the last four digits on the wedge, arbor and loading lever. This is a .31 caliber, 5 shot percussion revolver with a 5" barrel. The COLTS PATENT is hand cut on the frame as is the address Sam'l Colt address on top of the barrel. The serial numbers have an "I" above or below them to designate the gun to receive ivory grips. These are the original ivory stocks that have shrunken from age. There is a tiny initial "J" that was carved in the left grip many years ago. There are age cracks on the right side of the grips that remain completely solid. The action functions properly and the bore is strong. There are 2 of Young's well known mythical creatures on the left side, 1 on the frame and 1 on the barrel lug. The hammer has the Wolf's head carved on both sides. The engraving is sharp throughout with moderate wear on the barrel lug. There are various nicks and dings in the metal and minor oxidation in a few areas. There is some nice original bluing on the bottom 3 barrel flats and a generous amount of silver on the triggerguard and backstrap. Price includes insurance and shipping to the continental United States where legal. A three day inspection is offered with full refund if returned unfired in the same condition.
