Nice example of a Civil War Carbine Sling Swivel. The top of the swivel would have had a large leather belt running through it with a big 2 pronged buckle...this went over the cavalry soldier's shoulder. I found a couple of pictures showing the swivels attached to the belt. From there, the soldier's carbine was clipped onto the spring-loaded hook via a saddle ring. This one is still bright with nice edges, markings, and showing no corrosion. It has a very good spring. Inside is marked "OB NORTH & CO / NEW HAVEN CT." This is a great accessory for any Union Civil War Cavalry Carbine and one of
the nicer ones we've seen.
