Pre WWII M70 in 22 Hornet. Very nice overall condition. Very little metal wear and an excellent bore. This has not been shot much. Everything functions as it should and it has the pre war super smooth action. The rifle has a German Oigee 4x40mm scope mounted in Tilden period mounts. 26mm scope and correct size mounts/rings. Oigee (Berlin) made sniper scopes for the German Army in both wars. This is a Luxor model scope and was their highest grade. It sold in 1938 for $39.00 which is about $750 today.
The rifle has all the correct Winchester markings. S/N 27184 and was made in 1940. Both the front and rear sight are missing and the slots blanked off. The butt plate has been replaced with Delelerator pad. There are handling marks on the stock and a few small scuffs on the butt. The checkering is excellent. This will make a nice addition to your Winchester rifle collection. Hornets are getting very hard to find certainly in a rifle this nice.
