Kentucky Style Long Rifle Made in PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA!
Here we present an antique Andrew S. Joy Full-Stock Percussion Long Rifle, made circa the mid-19th Century in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Joy ran his gunsmithing shop on St. Clair Street in Pittsburg from 1838 to 1858.
This rifle features an octagonal barrel that is 38-1/2 inches in length and bored with rifling for .38 caliber ball. The stock is striped maple and it extends all the way to the muzzle. Brass furniture, double set triggers, and the maker’s name “A. J. JOY” is stamped atop the barrel. A beautiful piece of history from Pittsburg!
The overall condition is very good. The action functions. The bore remains in good condition. The maple stock is solid. A rare opportunity to own this maker!
