Description:
This Colt was produced in 1953. The pistol's serial number is 108259. This Colt has the early post war 5 Inch 38 Super barrel. When production resumed in 1947 for the 38 Super, Colt used 45 A.C.P. barrel blanks and bored them out to 38 Super. This practice continued until around the middle of 1954 when they started using the thin barrels we see today. These early style barrels were then called the "Fat" barrels. This barrel bore is in minty condition. The original barrel blue would rate a 98% condition. The slide has the early post war lettering. The slide has the high polish sides that give you that deep look. This slide has two very small scratches on the left side under the lettering. The frame also retain 98% of the original finish. This frame shows very little handling or use. This pistol has the original Coltwood grips intact. These grips are also known as the "Pony" grips. The magazine is the correct style magazine with the lettering on the floor plate. This magazine is in very fine condition. The original box is in very nice condition. The serial number is very faded on the box bottom. The end label is intact and in very good condition. The original instruction sheet is in the box. This instruction sheet is in very fine condition with light wear. The top of the box has some scattered surface wear and scuffing. This is a very high condition desirable Colt for the serious collector! These "Fat" barrel 38 Super models with the original box and papers in this condition are rare today!
