Antique European Flintlock Holster/Belt Pistol, possibly of Dutch mfg., approx. .69 cal., 13-3/4” round barrel with long blade front sight, is lightly engraved at breech, with 2 touchholes; overall length is 21-1/4"; lockplate is an old replacement; trigger with curved tail; brass furniture including engraved triggerguard with fancy front and long rear tangs, single band at muzzle, 2 fluted ramrod ferrules, large and ornately engraved sideplate fitted with an iron belt hook, large oval engraved buttcap with extended side tangs, and a large and beautiful (perhaps royal) coat-of-arms wrist escutcheon surmounted by a crown; varnished hardwood fullstock having carved, raised aprons at lockplate, sideplate, top tang and lower ramrod ferrule; brass-tipped hardwood ramrod.
Condition is good. The iron parts being polished bright with losses to markings and details, barrel with remnants of moderate pitting and dark spotting. Brass has also been polished with a light age patina and 2 added screws at rear of sideplate, engraving is clear, (belt hook may be a later addition). Stock basically solid with good carved details and the expected marks of age and use, left side forend with an approx. 6-1/2" hairline crack. Action functions well.
