The 21" round barrel has a good bore with strong rifling and pitting toward the muzzle. The barrel has a blue/brown patina. The action is bright with light staining. The forend is good with numerous issue dents and dings. The buttstock is good with issue dents and dings, a barely visible cartouche outline, and interesting carvings on either side of the butt. Could these be Indian? The right side of the butt also has several letters cut into it. Inspectors’ stamps are on the barrel (F.D.L.) and butt plate (B). The action functions correctly. This is one of the basic Union Civil War carbines. SOLD Antique: Yes |
