This is a scarce Winchester Model 1892 Bore Reflector for lever action rifles like the Model 1892, 1894, 1895, etc. This one is is a good straight example with no bends or damage to the brass body and still has the wooden back with the cut slot for fitting over the bolt extractor on a rifle or carbine. The mirror is getting a bit tarnished in areas but still serviceable. The left side is stamped WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO MODEL 1892. The brass has acquired a nice patina which can be polished if you want it to look flashy but most collectors prefer the more tarnished look. These are very useful little tools as they allow you to examine the bore not just from the muzzle like most modern bore lights but you can also examine the bore from the chamber and breech end...which is often the more corroded portion of an older barrel. I've known a collector or two who carried these little Winchester Bore devices with them to shows as they do more than just a light. These were sold out of Winchester catalogs in the late 1800's into the early 19th century. Today, they're a rather scarce item. $10.00 shipping via USPS Priority Mail in Lower US 48. SOLD |
