Description:
This .45 caliber Kentucky rifle has a browned octagon 7/8" x 42" barrel with 1:48 twist that is fitted with fixed sights. The bore is very good. Inscribed on the top flat of the barrel is Paul Parsons. The P+++ grade Maple stock is mounted with brass furniture, including a pierced patch box. All the metal furniture has been very tastefully engraved, including the tang and barrel, brass spread eagle cheek piece inlay and thumb piece. Simple but very tasteful carving embellishes the butt stock behind and below the cheek piece, including a border along the barrel channel and bottom edge of the butt stock. Handmade sling studs have been mounted to the butt stock and middle ramrod thimble. The handmade color case hardened percussion lock with AM Osterman stamped on the plate is activated by double set triggers. Comes with a custom made 13" white to cream tipped scrimshawed map horn featuring points extending from Gardner, Oregon to Crescent City and Yreka, California. It bears the previous owners name. This unique horn has been crafted to include a ball storage compartment in the butt of the horn with a captured Walnut stopper in the Walnut base plug for dispensing the .45 caliber round balls. It will store over 40 .440 balls. The nicely engrailed tip has a Walnut plug. Length of pull is 13-5/8", overall length is 57", weight is 9.2 lbs.
