Poultney & Trimble Smith Carbine 50 Breech Loading Civil War Carbine, 20 ½” octagon to round barrel blade front and ladder rear sight. LFR stamped on left rear of barrel. Smooth forearm and straight grip walnut stock with both inspection marks, cartouche on left side – Address/Poultney & Trimble/Baltimore U.S.A. and Smith’s Patent/June 23 1857” on left side near saddle ring bar. Steel butt plate. Case hardened receiver with barrel release latch inside the trigger guard. 85% original bluing on barrel with brown patina and scattered receiver mixed brown and silver patina stock and forearm. Some dents and mild chips and handling marks. Mechanically excellent and great bore, very fine condition overall. Part of a civil war collection of 12 rifles.Serial # 80XX Pre-owned.
