An attractive example with fine blue on the cylinder that shows normal light holster/handling wear. The barrel shows good blue with some thinning and a little more wear to the left side which is typical. The ejector is thinning to gray on the outside, but shows deep blue in the upper and lower protected portions. The frame is a mottled gray from faded case colors, but with some fairly vivid case color ahead of the cylinder especially on the left side. Grip straps mostly gray with aged blue on the trigger guard. Grips are fine and show normal wear. The left grip is numbered to the gun. Colt began putting the serial numbers on the inside of the trigger guard and back strap to match the exposed frame number beginning about 1919. The earliest of these were stamped on the left side under the grips and within a short time the numbers were stamped on the right side. this has the trigger guard number on the left side under the grips. I assume the back strap is an old replacement as it does not have a number stamped inside and appears that it may have had the earlier outside number on the butt rubbed off. Very strange as I can't imagine why someone would need to replace a back strap on an obviously un-abused revolver. Possibly it had an inscription that someone wanted to keep, but not own the gun? Who knows. the back strap fits perfectly to the frame and grips. Excellent screws with nice blue as well as the cylinder pin. Very tight action with four clicks to the hammer and little end shake or cylinder looseness. Bore is bright and excellent with sharp rifling all the way through. Nice appearance First Gen. Single Action and about 100 years old!
