The large bore pistols are usually referred to as Howdah pistols. They were used as self-protection from tiger attacks, if the tiger attacked the Howdah by climbing on the elephant. These pistols are fitted with belt hooks for carrying on a belt rather than a holster. The pistols have captive ramrods and are cased with the Westley Richards label. The pistols are in new condition. Locks and cocks with all their case colors, barrels with all of their damascus pattern. Checkering is perfect. Locks, tang, trigger guard are engraved. Stocks have all the original varnish. Rare dangerous game pistols and in superb condition. Barrels are 7 1/2"" and overall length is 13 1/2"". Case interior is original and excellent. Accessories are oil container, screwdriver powder flask, ramrod, Eley percussion cap can, extra lead balls and bullet mold. Has a monogram in disc on lid and a lifting handle.
