Francis Bannerman and W. Stokes Kirk were surplus merchants that assembled Krag rifles and carbines from surplus parts and are not considered completely accurate representatives if issue models. I believe this gun is one of those carbines. The information I base this on is found in a book by Lt. Col, USAR Ret. William S. Brophy "the KRAG RIFLE" in Section II - Bannerman, W. Stokes Kirk starting on page 177. The barrel is 22", the front sight is that of a 1903 rifle. Has sling swivels. Wood is in good condition overall with inspectors marks. Barrel retains about 90% blue turning dark. Top wood has a minor crack. This is a fine rifle.
