What is a "G" date? It is the code for second year of Mauser production before they started dating them in 1936.
This is an beautiful example of a scarce "G" date. This beauty has at the very minimum at least 98% of the original blue. The tiny loss that there is, is from some very slight sharp edge silvering and a little of the usual side plate wear. There is no rust, pits, scratches, or rub marks anywhere. Even the usual safety lever mark is very slight. The grip straps have one very tiny patch of graying. That's really it. The strawed parts are also about 98-99%.
The right side of the slide is correctly stamped, Eagle/63, Box B/92, Eagle. All number match, except the side plate (don't run away). The side plate is numbered "42" in very small numerals which is the Nazi code for a small quantity of original Mauser field replacement parts.
The grip panels are also quite rare as they are stamped internally with the full Mauser "S/42" code and are also pristine. No splits chips or cracks. There are just couple of flattened points. The grip screws are perfect. The slide rails, bolt face and feed ramps show little more than an occasional inspection wear.
The bore like the rest of the gun is pristine. It is mirror bright with razor sharp rifling, not a hint of frost anywhere. The gun comes with one correct aluminum based magazine serial numbered 458.
