The back is clearly marked with the S.H. Young stamp. The cover has the mark of R. White, U.S. Ordnance Department Sub Inspector. The mark is visible on the lower right corner of the cover but the letters are hard to discern. Both of the tinned metal boxes are present and in good condition, not deformed or rusted. The belt loops and black enameled sling attachments are both presenty and in good condition. The loops are solid, not cracked, and not in danger of falling apart. The leather is pliable and looks to have had some preservative applied at some point. It is dark and smooth, not cracked. The more delicate calf skin implement pouch is in good condition, not torn.
