Description:
1903 US Navy Colt model 1895 New Navy .38LC double action revolver. Revolver features blued finish and brown checkered Colt monogrammed hard rubber grips. Revolver features blued finish, and brown checkered Colt monogrammed hard rubber grips. Bottom of grip frame marked: "USN" anchor, "38DA," "s" inside triangle, "No 15313," "J.L.S." (Lt. J. L. Sticht Navy inspectors mark), and "225559." Bottom of barrel, crane and left side trigger guard stamped with "W" inside star mark. Matching assembly number "560" inside frame, on crane and cylinder release lever. No visible import markings.

Condition: Very good. Bright bore, with good rifling. Metal surfaces show approximately 40% original finish, with mottled gray patina, some surface scratches and indentations. Grip show well defined checkering with some handling wear. Mechanically very good.

Lot includes Colt Authentication Letter, dated Dec 21, 2009, from Beverly Jean Haynes (Colt Archivist) detailing revolver specs, shipment dates and original purchaser information. Lot also includes descriptive collection tag. Authentication letter states "Shipped to Navy Yard, Brooklyn,New York, January 30, 1904".
 + Bottom of grip frame marked: "USN" anchor, "38DA," "s" inside triangle, "No 15313," "J.L.S." (Lt. J. L. Sticht Navy inspectors mark), and    "225559."
