Immediate forerunner to the incomparable Pre War Model 70, here is an ULTRA scarce late style Winchester Model 54 in 22 Hornet caliber. S/N 43***A with matching scribed bolt made in 1935. Excellent, ALL ORIGINAL condition throughout especially considering its 86 years of circulation! 95% Blue and Varnish over most with bottom metal and butt plate showing more wear and a brownish patina, which can generally be anticipated on most legitimate examples of this model that have seen the light of day. Virtually spotless inside of the barrel channel and action mortise.There are no extra drill holes or bolt/safety alterations whatsoever. The barrel is 24" with an excellent bore. All mechanical functions are smooth and working properly. There is a factory inletted/installed long slide Lyman 48 receiver sight with the correct Lyman 12S filler in the barrel dovetail. Hooded Lyman 31 gold bead front sight. All of the unique internal components afforded the 22 hornet are present and correct, and I have personally confirmed that the chamber has not been reamed to a K Hornet nor any other caliber. An extremely difficult rifle to find in any condition and especially so in this very collectible state!
