Description:
This is a very rare Colt Sauer Grade IV Magnum Rifle chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum in spectacular all-original and unfired condition.  These rifles were built for Colt by the West German firm J.P. Sauer & Sohn between 1974 and 1985.  Offered in several grades, these rifles display some of the finest craftmanship you will ever see in a rifle, production or custom.  Sauer built these rifles off of their extremely slick and strong Model 90 action, which has a non-rotating bolt with rear locking lugs and a tang-mounted safety.  The firm's most experienced and talented gunsmiths built these rifles with the utmost care, with every single part being hand-fit and tuned to each individual rifle.  This Grade IV Magnum was the highest grade rifle Colt Sauer offered, with very limited production.  It features a 24" inch barrel with no sights with a high-polish gloss blue finish, a silver nitride/nickel receiver with both scroll and game scene engraving, a polished and jeweled bolt, a silver nitride/nickel triggerguard and detachable box magazine floorplate with scroll engraving, an adjustable trigger, and a extra deluxe Walnut stock with hand-cut checkering, a Rosewood forearm tip and pistol grip cap (w/ Rampant Colt logo insert), sling swivel studs, and a factory installed Colt Sauer-branded black recoil pad.  This rifle is certainly a work of art.  The game scene engraving on this 7mm Remington Magnum model consists of two bears in a mountain scene.  The quality and detail of the engraving is excellent on both the scroll work and game scene.  The original blue finish on this rifle rates 99% like-new, showing a bright almost mirror-like finish.  The silver nitride/nickel finish on this Sauer is also like-new, rating 99%.  The factory jeweling on the bolt is bright and pristine, and the bore in the Colt Sauer is spotless with perfect rifling.  As you can see from the pictures, the stock on this rifle is really beautiful, showing some amazing figure and contrasting grain throughout the stock.  The stock is free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage, showing only a few light handling/storage marks.  The checkered panels are still crisp and clean, and the forearm tip, pistol grip cap, and recoil pad are all in excellent original condition.  The action on this Grade IV Magnum has to be felt to truly be appreciated.  It is one of the slickest and most precise feeling bolt actions you will ever have the priviledge of operating.  It is so smooth and slick it feels like it is riding on ball bearings.  The bolt turns into battery perfectly, and the exceptional factory adjustable trigger breaks like a thin glass rod with a light pull.  While it may be viewed as a piece of art by many due to it's exquisite looks, make no mistake, it is a finely-tuned, precisely-engineered, serious shooting machine.  If you have been looking for a true "centerpiece" for your rifle collection this rare vintage Colt Sauer Grade IV Magnum would be an excellent choice and superb long-term investment.
