This is a splendid little, “(Crown) / MP" marked, Metropolitan Police model pistol that retains 97-98% of the original bright blue finish on the slide and frame. There is some minor freckling on the bright trigger guard and safety, and some dark metal along the edges of the ring hammer. The checkered hard rubber grips are in fine shape, having very little noticeable wear, and only some very minor flattening of the points. The pistol is housed in an original brown leather holster with tab closure, and was made to fit the .32 and .22 Metropolitan Police model pistols. These pistols were intended to provide Scotland Yard with economical training pistols, but were also sold commercially. In typical confusing style, although the Model 1911 was a manually-loaded and extracted single-shot, it was described as a “Semi-Automatic" by Webley to differentiate it from their “Automatic", self-loading pistols. They are seldom seen today, especially in the United States, and this example rates excellent condition overall.
