Description:
Smith & Wesson model of 1917, .45 hand ejector revolver. An early model made with the “GHS”, Maj. Gilbert H. Stewart stamp on the top left side of the frame. All stampings and inscriptions are sharp and clear, in fact this is a really fine example of an original 1917 .45 DA. 98% original metal finishes; original varnish on the grips with just a few light “dings” on the bottom edge of the grips. As they should be, the inside of the grips are serial numbered to the revolver.
I have no idea how a “UNITED STATES PROPERTY” 1917 could remain unfired for 103 years..but this revolver appears to be completely original and it is in unfired condition. More than likely this was an unissued Military model that was later sold commercially..regardless it is MINT.
