Description:
SOLD....REDUCED PRICE,,,Excellent Antique Colt Thuer 3rd model derringer. Here is an excellent little Colt derringer .. This is the most popular model of these little derringers Made by Colt...This one is in the two tone blue and silver.. S/N is 892 so this is absolutely in the antique range as these were 1 through 45,000 and started in 1890 to 1912.. Caliber is the .41 rim fire and standard 2 1/2” barrel.. As you can see, this little gun has most of the factory original finish.. The bronze frame retains 100% of the bright silver plating.. They is no bronze showing through the silver anywhere on this gun.. Not even the raised edges where most all of these will show at least a little bronze peaking through.. Outstanding frame finish and impossible to find a better one.. The barrel shows about 75% bright deep blue just starting to thin in some areas but as you can see, it is a very nice looking Colt. Perfect COLT address.. mechanics are excellent with half and full cock notches perfect. It does show the very common dings on the breech end of the barrel from being closed improperly with the hammer down... You will find this flaw on even near mint examples of this model.. Stupid people can't seem to operate one of the most simple design firearms in the world I guess..??? A couple small minor dings on the right side of the barrel also {see photos }... The grip screw even shows 100% of the bright fire blue.. The ejector screw is burred up as you can see. The ejector works perfectly and is not frozen shut as many you will see.. Excellent .41 cal markings on the frame. Gun locks up tight as new.. The grips are excellent showing 95% of the factory varnish.. No splits or cracks and a perfect snap on factory fit and penciled S/N on both inside.. The bore shows minor roughness but very good rifling all the way through.. Most of these bores are shot out and pitted badly but this one has survived very well.. Over all, this is an excellent example of the one of the most popular pocket derringers of all times.. This is out of my 30 plus year personal collection as I am starting to sell a little at a time..One Arizona peace officer was noted for carrying eleven of these derringers, pulling them from armholes in his over coat, boot legs, hip pockets and from the back of his neck..... Getting shot with one of these was very painful, but dying from the wound was mostly caused 3 or 4 days later from infection rather then the wound itself.. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos... $15 insured priority mail shipping.. Check back often or call me as I will be listing more soon...
