This .38-55 caliber Winchester High Wall Model 1885 single shot rifle was manufactured in approximately 1890. It has a No. 3 weight 32"" octagon barrel. The bore is excellent with bright perfect rifling. It has an extra filled dovetail in front of the rear sight. The trigger is standard Winchester with safety and full cock. The barrel has approx. 90-95% blue. The Winchester markings are sharp and clear. The rear tang sight is modern but has the adjustable features. The front sight is Rocky Mountain style and is also modern. The forend has had a crack repair which is very well done. The stock toe has an old chip repair. The receiver was probably case colored and has lost its colors. It has a blue-gray patina. This Model 1885 High Wall single shot Winchester rifle is very good overall and is in a desirable caliber.
