***SALE PENDING*** #1191 LAYAWAY?.... .58 cal., 33” barrel with a mostly bright very good bore showing areas of minor pitting in the strong rifling. The barreled action is toning to a dark gray patina with scattered small areas of pinprick pitting mostly around the bolster and spots of oxidation staining. The brass mountings for which this rifle is famous display a pleasing goldenrod patina. All the metal markings remain crisp with the lock properly stamped “1863” to the rear of the hammer, “(Federal Eagle) / U.S.” ahead of the hammer and “REMINGTON’S / ILION, N.Y.” is below the bolster while the top of the barrel is marked “1863 / (eagle head)” and “U.S. / V / P” and the left flat bears “STEEL”. The smooth black walnut straight grip stock rates very good with a short minor hairline crack to the left of the breech tang, a few tiny chips along the ramrod channel and a few scattered light dings and handling marks from the years, while the left stock flat shows two softened inspection cartouches and the patchbox contains a spare nipple. The action remains strong, the sling swivels and bayonet lug remain intact, the rifle is sighted with a Model 1858 rear and blade front and a correct cupped tulip-head ramrod with threaded end is included. Without a doubt one of the most handsome of all military arms, this example of the Remington “Zouave” remains in very good plus condition. .....2nd firearm ships FREE with this one!!!....READ MY FEEDBACK, ANDWITH CONFIDENCE!
