***SALE PENDING*** #1191 (LAYWAY?).............. NICE!!!...M1855 Springfield Percussion Musket, dated 1858, along with bayonet that fits nicely! .....Civil War.58 cal., 40" barrel with a very good bore which shows evident rifling but with oxidation its full-length. The lock is properly marked with large Federal Eagle on on the primer door, "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" at the front of lock and is dated 1858 at the rear while the barrel bears proper "V / P / (eagle head)" inspector's markings and is also dated 1858. The metal surfaces are a silvery gunmetal-pewter patina with scattered oxidation, all markings in metal remain clear and legible. The stock rates excellent with only lightly rounded edges, nice figure in the butt, minor handling marks and a light but present cartouche. The rifle-musket is equipped with a long range rear sight and an iron tulip shaped ramrod.
