Description:
A relic WWI flare pistol named MARK II for the 10ga flare. Not to be used with a 10 ga shotgun loaded shell. With a frame is brass and a steel barrel. Metal is pocked with patches of fine pits in places from being below deck and has an area of roughness, along the length of the barrel from firing flares in this gun, and the gun doesn't locks up , possibly the locking latch is missing.Bore is frosted from continuous use. . The American walnut wood grips are good and have a dry finished look. The frame has a mottled , mellow/aged brass look. Overall an example of a WWI used flare pistol used by the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marine! This is a rare variation as a New York Naval Yard.Hammer cocks , locks and fires when the trigger is pressed. Looks like the barrel is sprung. Maybe some donkey tried to fire a 10 ga shotgun shell? Not sure it can be made to fire so it is a good Naval relic, most likely made by Remington. Also good for rare parts!Shipping may be higher than stated as shippers raise their prices twice year without notice!
